December

That time of the year again! Time to put up the Christmas tree and have our traditional family dinner after the job is done...

Sarah finished her final prac for Nursing which meant the end of 3 years study at ECU and no more study, exams and prac. Nathan bought her some flowers to celebrate...

We did a few more trips to Perth wedding dress shopping for Nicole. We were served tea and bicys while we sat and waited for each  "showing" and expressed our opinions. Then eventually Nicole found the "one"...

She happily put her order in for the dress she had fallen in love with and now we just have to wait many months for it to be made!...

Peter and I had a night in the Duxton thanks to some of his customers generosity. We walked into the city and had dinner at the Markets ~ all international cuisine. The Commonwealth Bank had a Christmas light show lighting up the side of the building which was very pretty...

Next morning we went for a walk up at Kings Park. It was the first time we had been on the arched bridge suspended among the canopy of the tall eucalypt trees...

The beautiful Boab tree bought from up north a few years ago was still going well...

Sarah and Megan celebrated the end of nursing studies with a graduation dress up party...

Peter got into renovations on Mildred and pulled her apart a bit.  Whilst she was quite a bit rotten in parts he was able to replace some of the bad bits and reinforce other parts to hold the old girl together!...

Someone was caught stealing from under the Christmas tree.  It is amazing what she can smell through all the packaging...

After many weeks of waiting and almost giving up, the man arrived to built the patio on the side of the new shed for our caravan to be stored under cover...

The garden was a bit dismal this year mainly because we were away during most of spring so we didn't get much planted.  We had a good supply of tomatoes including some rather odd shaped ones...

Peter and Nathan went fishing a few mornings on the beach. They didn't catch much but enough for a small feed...

And just like that the sun set on another year full with  lots of  memories, good times, holidays and celebrations...

Farewell 2014!

Christmas 2014

Christmas for 2014 was a very quiet affair. Having hosted Christmas for the last few years and everyone else wanting to do their own thing this year it was just us with Daniel and Nathan. The girls went and did their traditional drive around town looking at Christmas lights and singing carols on Christmas Eve...

We took all our usual Christmas family photos...

Had some fun with the self timer...

 Set the table...

Waited patiently for gift giving and opening time...

Played in the mess like little children...

Enjoyed a delicious lunch...

Remembered we hadn't taken a photo with all our fur babies...

And spent the rest of the day wishing we hadn't eaten so much and relaxing. Nicole and Sarah also had to prepare themselves for more feasting at their partners homes.

Doctor Janelle

After 6 years of full time study the day (22nd November) had finally arrived for Janelle to take her "Declaration of Professional Dedication" and officially become a Doctor.  The ceremony was held back at UWA in the stunning Winthrop Hall.

Janelle arrived with her partner Dustin who was also about to become a Doctor...

After a few family photos we moved into Winthrop Hall and waited for the graduates to file in behind all the Deans, Professors and others who had been involved with this group of students over the 6 years...

There were over 200 graduates this year and Janelle was one of the 44 rural students...

We were very proud when it was her turn to be recognised ~ she was also part of the second group named who graduated with honours!...

After a few more speeches  they all stood and read the "Declaration of Professional Dedication" and were all very happy to leave the ceremony with the title of "Doctor" before their names!...

Champagne and refreshments followed in the beautiful UWA gardens...

Celebrating with her mentor and our family Doctor

Then we headed over to Cottesloe for a big Italian feast at Il Lido Restaurant with Dustin's family...
Congratulations Doctor Janelle!
