Sarah in Paris

After leaving Bordeaux Sarah and her group travelled through the Loire Valley and on into Paris. They went to the very top of the Eiffel Tower...

On Bastille Day they caught the train into the centre of Paris and watch some of the military parade... 

They then came and saw us and had a bit of lunch before we had to go on a tour. Their last night together before the end of the tour was spent celebrating Bastille Day. (Well it is actually commemorating not celebrating)...

 They were on the opposite of the tower to us at the Tracadero area for the fireworks...

With 500 000 people at the fireworks it wasn't easy to get anywhere out of the area in a hurry and Sarah didn't make it back to her motel until the very early hours of the morning. We went over to help her and Georgia shift into the St Christophers backpackers. Sarah was not feeling very well at all but still spent the day with us and we went to the markets. After we left them to travel to Rome things got a whole lot worse for Sarah and she became very sick. They spent a whole day in bed and hanging out at the backpackers. They eventually felt well enough to do a bit of exploring around Paris and went up the Arc de Triomphe...

 Shopped on the Champs Elysees..

 Visited  La Sainte-Chapelle with its beautiful stained glass windows...

And wandered around Montmartre  and ate Macarons...

All good things must come to an end and Sarah and Georgia made it safely home via Dubai. Sarah continued to suffer from her "Contiki" bug for quite some time.

Sarah's Holiday Part 5

Time to leave France for a while and travel through the French Riviera into Spain and Barcelona. This a view of Barcelona from Gaudi Park...

 If there is one thing Sarah was determined to visit this trip it is the la Sagrada Familia Church in Barcelona. She did a project on it many years ago and finally she was getting to see it! Construction started in 1882 and it is hoped that it will be completed in 2026. The detail is amazing...

 They then travelled back into France and visited the medieval town of Carcassonne...
