After not much sleep we got up just before 4am, packed everything up and had a quick breakfast. One more look out on the balcony at all the chimney stacks...
He took us to the Thistle Hotel near Marble Arch where we met Bob our tour guide and the rest of the people we would be spending the next week with. There were only 20 people on the tour so we could spread out on the big bus.With everyone on board we left London and drove through Greenwich and headed to the coastal port of Dover. When we arrived in Dover Passport control boarded the bus and stamped all our passports. We then queued up with lots of other buses and cars and waited. We hopped off the bus and went toilet hunting and stretched our legs in the only shop there. We then stayed on the bus as Giovanni drove it onto the huge P&O ship...
We were then free to wander the huge ship. Unfortunately it rained as we were leaving Dover so the White Cliffs looked a bit hazy...
The boat ride across the English Channel took an hour and a half. Back onto the bus and off the ship we went into the French coastal town of Calais...
We drove for a few hours through France and Belgium and got caught in very slow traffic and we eventually found the cause of that..
Soon we were in the Netherlands and we had a short break...
We had a bit of free time so we went for a quick walk around the town square...
And then out to dinner and had a nice time getting to know our fellow travellers who seem to be a great bunch of people...
