Father's Day (and Birdie) Weekend

Happy Father's Day to our Dads of the family!

Yesterday was another cold wet miserable day.

Sarah finished another bag, this one is her favourite as she loves the colours and she is very happy with the way it turned out........

Mum and Dad J called in for lunch on their way home from 10 weeks at Carnarvon and Dongara....

Nicole showed them some of her New Zealand photos....
Today we did some more harvesting (the last of our cauliflours).....
Sarah then made a homegrown salad for Father's Day lunch.......

The sun eventually came out and Lucy enjoyed the warmth......

While Bella had her daily chomp on her pot of grass.......

Peter and I headed out for a game of golf (minus the camera) and what an exciting game it turned out to be. After some terrible holes I somehow managed to tee off on hole number 4 (which is a par 3) with my 5 wood and the ball landed about 1 and a half meters from the hole and in it went first putt. My first BIRDIE! So I only have a shot of the ball I did it with.......

Peter got his first birdie back on the 20th May when we were playing lots during his long service leave.

Then it was out to Nicoles for some fresh scones, jam and cream for afternoon tea ( made by Nicole).......

And then a walk along the beach to burn off some of the calories.......

And some soccer with seaweed balls......

As usual Lucy found a pile of muck to roll in so Sarah volunteered to bath, blowdry and groom her, much to Lucy's disgust....

And so another weekend flys by.

City to Surf

Yesterday Janelle ran in her first City to Surf fun run in Perth. She did the 12km run and her goal was to finish the whole 12km without having to walk. She did it an thoroughly enjoyed herself!

Here are her stats:

Out of 12,374 finishers in the 12km her place was 1585 (placed ahead of 87.20% of finishers male and female)

In the Female 19 - 29 category her place was 72 out of 2008 finishers (placed ahead of 96.46% finishers)

In the overall Females for this event she placed 147 out of 4994 finishers (placed ahead of 97.08% of the female finishers in the 12km event.)

Well done Nelly!

She also attended a Murder Mystery dinner at Trinity recently with lots of the students getting dressed up in some great costumes.

Remembering Poppa

Today would have my Pop's 100th birthday. He passed away on 10th August 1978, 19 days before his 70th birthday.

His name is Norman James French and he was a hard working farmer who drove a white valiant.

I will always remember his husky voice and his heavy breathing from years of smoking which eventually claimed his life. There are not many photos of him around and he always looked much older than his years.

This is one of the few photos of him and me with Nanna, Mum and Rodney and Steven.

More patio

The patio building man came back today to put the roof on.

There is just some flashing that is missing. We are pretty pleased with the result although the games room is a bit darker. Now we have the lighting to sort out, gardening to do and hopefully one day a spa to install! And a nice big new table would be good, all good things to dream about.
