Mud, Footy and Markets

Nicole and Janelle went to Perth and teamed up with Danika and Jacob to participate in Mud Rush. This was held at the state equestrian center and was a course of 9km of obstacles, tunnels, climbing walls and MUD. They all had a great time getting filthy and testing their personal strengths and fears. Unfortunately they couldn't take their cameras on the the course so we just have before and after shots...

We were also in Perth as Peter had won tickets to an Eagles  match and a nights accomodation. It was a terrible game with the Eagles being thrashed by Geelong. We got to witness their lowest ever score at Subi oval!

 We had good seats...

 But this was our view for most of the game...

 A lot of the die hard Eagles supporters left at three quarter time but we stayed to the end...

 We caught the train back to the city and then walked to our motel - love how they have lit up Council House with the lights changing to all sorts of colour combinations every few seconds...

The next morning we went to the 3 in 1 Polka Dot vintage markets at the showgrounds. There were over 300 stalls of all sorts of goodness there and we didn't even get to see all the stalls...

We picked up Nicole from Danikas and drove home.

Our little doggies also turned 9 this weekend (we didn't have a number 9 so its 8 + 1)...

 Lucy wasn't too enthused and knocked her candles over...

Mildred

For many years now we have been looking at caravans and well just waiting for the "right" time to make that purchase. Our first step was to buy a vehicle that would be suitable to tow a good travelling van. So we got the Colorado. Friends asked us what we were going to name our new 4WD and we tossed a few names around and couldn't decide on one. So we decided that as its colour is Royal Grey and we got it in July we would wait and see what William and Kate would name their  new royal baby also due in July. We had to wait until July 22nd but "George" it is! Anyway back to the caravan - Peter was flicking through various sites in the Ipad and came across  a cute little 1960's Newlands 10ft vintage do-me-upper. I have always loved looking at the cute vintage caravans on various blogs and sites and here was one for sale and in our home town as well!!!! So we phoned the owner and Sarah and I went and had a look. We had to look past the dirt and leaking roof to see some very cute potential. Peter and I went back the next day...

We went away and thought about it for a day knowing there were other people interested and in the end decided "why not"! So now Peter has a small hobby to occupy him on his LSL next year. He also decided to name her "Mildred" to go with his George...

SOLD to us!!!

Our next problem was how to get her home. She is unlicenced and has no back lights so we arranged for a permit to move her the 4kms home. We hooked her up to the Commodore - didnt quite need the Colorado for this - and I followed Peter home very closely on our planned route. He even took her over some speed humps - I was waiting for the whole thing to fall to bits on a busy road. But we made it and now she sits on the back lawn waiting for her makeover...

I got to work and started cleaning some of the dirt out so we could at least sit on the seats...

It was fun going through all the nooks and crannys - a few finds that made my day were...a teeny plug for the sink...

A rusty old key which to my delight fitted the wardrobe so we could lock it and also open the other side which revealed a mirror...

We were very brave and plugged the power and very happy when the light worked so we decided to celebrate with a mini bottle of wine (thanks Qantas) in our mini van...

And our final discovery of the day is that the clock still works - you just have to put your hand in the cupboard and wind it up!...

So there she is. We can't wait to start pulling her apart and have been preparing ourselves for all sorts of nasty surprises that she may be hiding. It will be a while before we get a good go at her when Peter gets some time off work but for now we just enjoy sitting and contemplating.  So many questions we will never know the answers to - we have grand plans for her!

PS for those people reading this who think we have gone mad - she is a hobby - and that nice big off-roader we talk about will one day be hooked up to George :-)

A few happenings

Janelle bought herself a new (well secondhand) road bike. She purchased it off her long time running friend Tennielle who is now having a family. Janelle has been looking at getting one for some time and is very happy with her new set of wheels...

 She recently joined up with a cycle group and thoroughly enjoyed her first 40km ride - although a certain part of her anatomy would prefer a bit more padding next time!...

With everyone back from their different holidays the girls all got together for a big heart to heart and catchup in Sarah's bed...

Peter took the Colorado out with Wayne and Matt for its first run on the beach. Wayne and Matt are both experienced in 4WDriving so they had a good day teaching their student...

Except he just couldn't make it up this hill...

A few tips from Matt

Peter had a good day out - he just didn't enjoy all the cleaning up of his new toy when he got home!
Nicole and Daniel and a group of their mates went to a recent "Wedding Dress Ball" which was a fundraiser for the Cancer foundation. Danika wore her wedding dress again and Nicole wore her bridesmaid dress.
Daniel looked very smart in his yellow suit and top hat...

As always they all had a great night and Daniel and Danika both won prizes for their outfits.
