Turning 20

Today Janelle celebrated turning 20. Instead of travelling home we went to Perth to have lunch with her. Sarah had to work and Nicole had gone to Peaceful Bay for the weekend so we took Nanna and Poppa for a drive. They hadn't seen where she stays at Trinity before so they were keen to have a look. We took a picnic lunch up to Kings Park and Tracey met us there. Janelle's presents had a "baking" theme this year as we got her things to use in her little uni kitchen.

Instead of the usual seagulls we are used to having hang around for scraps today we were entertained by Kookaburras and Crows, with the Kookaburra being the dominant bird.

We tried to light a candle but it was too windy so we just sung...

Had a rest...And a birthday photo shoot...

After a lovely relaxing lunch we took Janelle back to Trinity and headed to Tracey's new house to have a look then home to Bunbury. Janelle continued to celebrate her birthday with her friends at Trinity and they went out to dinner at a Greek restaurant and Janelle got to blow out that candle...

One last shot of Janelle and Ted on their last day as teenagers...

Back to Uni

Sadly Janelle's holiday at home has come to an end and she has gone back to Trinity. We loaded up her little getz and headed up to Perth. This year Janelle has got a car park at Trinity so thats one less car in our driveway and she can get to the athletics track whenever she wants.

Janelle is sharing a "flat" with 4 other girls. They all have their own room and share the bathroom. The exciting thing about this is the little kitchen area complete with oven, pantry, sink and fridge so they can do some cooking if they like. Once again she is on the top floor so lots of stair climbing with all her stuff!

Janelle's room is bigger than last years and nice and bright with more cupboard space and a bigger balcony...

Last year her room was right next to Stirling Highway and very noisy with the traffic, her new room is more to the back of campus and overlooks the dining room and grass area...

After all the moving we went to the AMA to get a medical book and then replenished our energy with some treats...

Janelle then drove herself to athletics while I waited for Peter to arrive with another car load of stuff to unload into her room. We then went to athletics to watch Janelle run the 800m and got to see Australia's fastest man Patrick Johnson run. Then home to Bunbury.

Janelle's Adelaide trip

Janelle and her friend Emma flew over to Adelaide for a girly week. They stayed at Bronte's house and another friend Rhian flew in from the Northern Territory. They all board together at Trinity in Perth and have become good friends. Bronte lives near the beach so they spent a bit of time down there.

Shopping was high on the agenda and they had a trip to Glenelg and into the city centre Rundle Mall...

Visited the Adelaide Zoo (loved the Pandas)...

Even had "panda" cookies...

Went to the Botanical Gardens...

Shopped at the markets...

Had a night out indulging in cocktails at a Boho Club...

Toured wineries and feasted on all sorts of gastronomical delights...

Apparently this passionfruit souffle was just delicious - the best...

With all this eating some of it had to be burnt off! Janelle was able to go for a few runs along the foreshore and capture a lovely sunset...

Also had a trip to Chinatown...

Other highlights included going to the Art Gallery, Monarto Open Plain Zoo, moonlight outdoor cinemas in the Botanic Gardens and the Garden of unearthly delights festival. They also toured Bronte's old school and had some chillout time watching a few movies. A great holiday.

Sweet 16

Happy 16th Birthday to our dear Sarah. What a big day it was for her. It started with breakfast with her friends at Sears restaurant in town.
Janelle and I then took her new red getz in to surprise her as she thought we weren't getting it from Perth until Sunday. (Peter and Janelle bought it home from Perth on Wednesday and it had been hidden at Nicoles). She was very excited and happy to finally see it...

Then it was off to school for the day. Janelle made her some cupcakes...

After school we went to the liscencing centre and Sarah did her learners permit computer test. She passed that getting 30 out of 30 (beating both her sisters results) and is now officially on her "L's". She finally got to open some pressies, had a car photo shoot and then we went for a little test drive over at the oval.

We went out to the White Elephant Thai Restaurant to celebrate followed by a very rich cheesecake at home...

And of course the usual silly photos...

Nicole bought herself a new toy...

A mini laptop to take on her travels, its a great size and one may make its way into our household in a few months!
