Darwin Day 1

Peter has been rewarded for all his hard work at the bank and we were very thankful to be invited to Darwin with 100 other people to celebrate. We decided to make the most of the opportunity and went a day earlier so we could see a bit more of  Darwin. We left home just after 5am and drove to Perth airport checked in and waited for our 3 hour flight. We arrived in Darwin after lunch to be greeted by very hot weather. We checked into the Crowne Plaza Hotel - our room had a huge bed...

 After settling in we went for a walk to the mall. It was very quiet and definitely felt more like a big country town rather than a city. We then caught a taxi to the Mindil Beach sunset markets. It was very interesting wandering around and seeing people selling things relevant to the culture and area...

 We walked over the road to the beach and were lucky enough to see it with the tide a long way out...

We needed to get back into town to meet with Peter's customers for dinner so we caught a taxi but got out just in time to witness a stunning Darwin sunset...

 We had dinner at the Char Restaurant and enjoyed some delicious food with great company...
