Weekending

Yay! For nearly 2 hours everyone was home today! Janelle came home from uni for the weekend and Nicole arrived home from her Contiki tour of New Zealand this morning. Doctor Nelly bought home one of her new stethescopes so of course we all had to have a turn at being a patient as she is learning about the heart this semester. We found different pulse spots all over our bodies and she checked our heart valves.

Even the animals couldn't escape a test.......

Sarah also had a turn....

Nicole showed us her DVD of her doing a "Canyon swing" which is freefalling 60 metres above water and swinging, so good she did it twice!

Looking forward to seeing all her photos.

We had lousy weather all weekend but we still went for a walk along the beach.....

Took a drive out to the Boyanup Markets and then wandered through an antique shop.....

Sarah made some yummy cranberry, currant and apricot rock cakes (she hates rubbing the butter into the flour!)........

New patio and happenings

Finally our new patio was delivered yesterday and spread over the back lawn. The guy came back today and started the construction. He got all the framework done.

So far we are happy with how its taking shape.

We have all been suffering from colds and flu's over the last few weeks. Nothing really compared to poor Nick who has been in a coma and intensive care with the Swine Flu. He is now in a general ward in Royal Perth and on the mend. Sarah had had enough of her runny nose and thought this could be the solution........

She is madly into sewing still and has moved onto a bag pattern that I found on the internet, here is her first one.....Now she has made 4! She has done a great job all by herself and worked out measurements to make the bags in different sizes. They are all lined as well. I am very proud of her efforts......

Our little woofers both turned 5 this week. We had these 'Frosty Paws' icecreams in the freezer so they served as icecream cakes......

We also bought Sonic over for a visit while Nicole is still in New Zealand.....

He was a good boy.

Introducing Ayantu

We have sponsored a child through World Vision. Her name is Ayantu Dereje, she is from Ethiopia and is 6 years old. Sarah and I looked through the choice of children from lots of different countries. There was something about this little girls forlorn look of sadness. Hopefully our monthly contribution can make a small difference to her and her families life. Even if it is some fresh drinking water.


Peter harvested his first cauliflour a few days ago. Its the first one we have grown so he was pretty impressed...........

I made another bag this week and Peter took it up to Perth for Janelle.

Peppermint Grove Beach

Today we took a drive out to Peppermint Grove Beach. We have driven past the turn off for years on the way to Busselton but never ventured in. It is a pretty little townsite with lots of houses built up high to capture the ocean views.

The beach was a bit seaweedy but the dogs still enjoyed to walk.

As always our lovely white dog (nice and clean from being washed after rolling in crap yesterday) found something stinky to have another roll in!

There weren't many people about so it was lovely and quiet and peaceful.

There was also an amazing cloud formation out over the water......

Sarah had herself a little self photo shoot in the car........

Time for lunch harvested from the garden......

Nicole and Ant arrived safely in New Zealand and let us know at 4.40am in the morning! They joined their Contiki tour group this morning and hopefully will be having a great time.

Sarah is now enjoying baking every Sunday afternoon. She has filled the cookie jar with some very colourful (M&M) cookies and made 2 batches of muffins......

Trinity Life

Janelle has settled back into university life. Aside from all the study she is meant to be doing she has been keeping busy with other activities. This semenster she has joined the UWA gym and is going to various classes there and has also taken up Salsa dancing!

They had a Christmas in July dinner. Here she is along with her meal which she was very happy about as she even had turkey and ham.........

She also got to go to the UMAT dinner and talk to the prospective students about medicine and the best part was not having to sit the exam the next day. Janelle let some of the students play with her new toy but was very protective of it......

Her stethescope! Well she actually bought herself 2 - a pretty pink one for working with children and a serious black one.

She has been busy testing them out on herself and is currently learning about the heart and did all these drawings on herself to learn.

No doubt we will be her next "patients" when we see her!

Sewing and bits

I have been doing a bit of sewing lately and my first project was a bag. It took me quite a while and I had to go and ask for some help from the shop I bought the pattern from.

I was pretty happy with the end result and the colours are nice and summery.

We have been back to Spotlight a few more times as they have had some nice fabric sets out on special , so I couldn't resist buying some more........

I have started another bag to try a few adjustments to a few things I was'nt happy with on the first one.

Sarah was very busy in the kitchen today making these yummy Berry and Yogurt muffins, some pizzas and an Apricot Cake.........

Peter went up to Perth to watch the Eagles beat Essendon and sat in the Corporate boxes for the Commonwealth Bank and entertained some customers. I stayed home most of the weekend feeling sorry for myself with an awful head cold that is making me feel very ill.

We have had some nice sunny days lately and this evening we had a lovely pink sunset, this is the view from our patio. The huge fig tree in the neighbours yard has now lost all its leaves.

How cute is this............

She had just had some leftover milo.
