Happenings

Just an update on whats been going on around here over the last few weeks. After all the organising and celebrating of Nicole's 21st birthday this picture pretty much sums up how we all felt.....After a few days rest Dad, Sarah and I took a trip to Perth and tested out the new highway which has just recently opened. It certainly made the trip much quicker then the horrible Old Coast Road.

We called in and saw Janelle and she modelled us her new ball dress then Sarah and I caught the bus into the city to do some shopping.

Dad drove out to see Steven and we then caught the train out to Midland to meet him and headed home.

A few days later we went out to Harvey and had morning tea at the Settlers Cottage at the Harvey Tourist Info centre.

The gardens were beautiful with lots of spring flowers....

We then drove out to the Harvey Dam. It had filled up so much since we had been out earlier in the year. Another few more weeks of rain and it may have overflowed for the first time.....

Peter, Dad and I went for a game of golf. It wasn't a good day with a freezing wind blowing and some terrible shots, the only highlight were these baby geese out for a wander...

Nicole and her housemates went to Perth to see the Black Eyed Peas concert. They took little Sonic for his first "road trip". Apparently he was very well behaved and spoilt by Ant's mum but a very tired little boy when he got home. He also just had a little op to halt his manhood tendancies!
Janelle attended her Trinity Ball in Fremantle and had a great night in her new pretty dress...

She also ran in the "Run for Poverty" representing Trinity. They went all through Kings Park and surrounds for a few hours.....
Sarah and I have still been busy doing some sewing...

And I helped Nicole set up her new machine and get her started.......

We had a mini heatwave for 2 days this weekend which was a bit hard to take after all our cold miserable weather. The sunsets were great.....

Our roses are blooming and always look best at the start of the season.....
Bella now has her stitches out but unfortunately she has become very nervous when we walk her which is a bit sad as she has always loved going for a walk.

Turning 21

Nicole's big day finally arrived - her 21st birthday! We had a great full day of celebrating.
First up was the family present opening......

We gave her a sewing machine, all the necessary bits like pins and scissors etc that she might need, a camera, a mum made apron and cookbooks, an engraved libra pendant, a Luigi toy, a 21st black glass and a 21st book for guests to sign. I also spent many hours making her a scrapbook album. Pop gave her some handmade salt and pepper grinders and Adobe photoshop. She also received lots of gift vouchers later from friends and family and a baby budgie and lovely cage from her housemates.
We had some family photos before everyone arrived for lunch....

We had made up a photo board complete with her beloved "Frodo"....

We had 26 family and friends to lunch. The table was covered in black fabric, sprinkled with red and gold stars and silver 21's and decorated with some silver, black and red arrangements and same coloured helium balloons. It all looked great. We feasted on different cold and hot meats and some yummy salads.......

After lunch we all watched a home movie Sarah had made of Nicole's life and partying. Sarah did a great job with that.

Then it was time for a speech from Peter followed by cake...

There were certainly a lot of photos taken on the day and here a few favourites...

Dad and his 4 grand daughters..

Nicole, Janelle and Sarah with Kelsie and Teagan..

Nicole and Lisa with stars on their noses...Pop, Janelle, Lisa and Toby... Nicole and cousin Tracey...Nicole with god parents Jean and Gordon...Nicole and Janelle...Janelle and Lucy...Janelle and Mumsy...

After all the day celebrations we then moved everthing out to where Nicole is renting for a night party with her friends. The theme was Glitz and Glamour/Flash to Trash.

Another cake...They all had a great time that went on until the small wee hours. The beret also had to make an appearance....HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY to our beautiful, fun loving vivacious daughter, sister, grand daughter, niece, cousin and friend! We love you!

Bella

Peter and Sarah set off for normal "walkies" on Tues 29th Sept along King Road. What happened next is something we had always feared. A lady was putting out her garbage bin with her dog which ran across the road and latched onto Bella. Sarah had picked up Lucy. It was a savage attack and with Peter beating the dog with a big umbrella, Sarah kicking it and screaming it still would not let go of Bella. Neighbours came and eventually the owner came and took the dog with no apologies. I received a phone call from a very upset Sarah and went and picked them up. Bella was very sore, couldn't walk properly and bleeding. We phoned the vet and she advised us to take her in in the morning. We took her out to Harradines vet. They examined her and when the vet clipped her hair found a large wound that needed surgery. We Left Bella for the day and
picked her up looking like this....

She had to be cut open and the wound cleaned, torn skin removed and flushed out. She had about 20 stitches and a drain put in under the skin for fluid and muck to come out....yucky!
She also has to take pain killers and antibiotics.
Fast forward one week and she is now walking again and has had the drain removed but the stitches have to remain for another week and a half . The vets also discovered she has bladder stones and is also being treated for that.
The ranger has been very helpful and will present statements and evidence to the owners of the the dog and hopefully they will be fined and pay some of our large vet bills.
