Weekending

Today it was another trip to Perth. Sarah stayed home and did some study (well a little bit). First stop was the new athletics centre (not even sure what they call it but we still refer to it as Perry Lakes). We met Dad there and watched Janelle run the 800m in the open category of the senior states. She came 5th and did her fastest time for a few years which she was happy with. The winners compete at national level so it was good experience running with them. On Friday night she ran the 1500m and again did a personal best and got a bronze medal (there was only 3 in the race)...

Janelle did her cool down while we went and parked at Trinity and went over to UWA. There was a craft market called "Up Market" being held in Winthrop Hall which I was keen to have a look at. We also had a look at all the damaged leadlight windows from the storm...

We met up with Janelle and all went into the city for the Masonic Lodge Scholarship presentations. Janelle got her certificate and $750...

These people are Mr & Mrs Stokes who are the donors of her scholarship...

It was a nice afternoon with a very yummy, mourish afternoon tea! We then went back to Trinity and Janelle farewelled her little car as we were bringing it home to be assessed for insurance. Peter and I drove home separately.
On Saturday night we participated in Earth Hour...
Koota's family came home so his days at "Debbie's Day Care" came to an end, he had settled into our little routine... Nicole was happy to have Ant home from his trip to Canada and America and they celebrated his birthday on Sunday and went to the Capelfest. Nicole decorated the hallway for Ant to wake up to this in the morning...

And here he is with his seal cake...

Sarah went to the movies to see Alice in Wonderland again and worked on Saturday.

Early Morning Wakeup

We have a flock of white cockies in Bunbury. Everyday they seem to fly over our house from the Sandridge Park area to Koombana and town. For some reason they decided to have a stopover on all the corner lawns opposite us and in the trees of our over the road neighbours. They are extremely noisy and at 6.20 in the morning we weren't overly impressed to see them!

Perth Storm

Yesterday afternoon Perth was hit by a huge storm.

It caused hundreds of millions of dollars damage across Perth with flooding, winds and huge hail. Thousands of cars have been written off from hail damage. Trinity College got lots of damage here's a few pics Janelle took...

The view from her room after hail...

Hail in their kitchen from smashed windows...

Muffins flying around...

Flooded underpass to UWA...

Winthrop Halls smashed leadlight windows...

Common room roof collapse at Trinity...

And for us the worst damage is Janelle's poor little (golf ball) car...

Luckily it was insured unlike lots of the other cars in the student carpark...

Certainly a storm that will be long remembered.

Quotes

One of my morning "walkies" spots with the dogs is a lap around the Koombana Caravan Park. I like to look at the tourists and their different caravan and tent setups. I always feel very jealous also! There is such a mixture of people travelling and some of their setups are very interesting. Some people have their names on their caravans but the two things that have made me smile were larger camper vans with these quotes written across their back windows...
"Adventure before Dementia"
"Everyday is a Sunday "
Ah dream on...

Weekending

Janelle drove home this weekend. It was her first weekend home after going back to uni and the her first trip home in her little car. On Saturday Sarah and I both had to work, Peter organised new tyres for the commodore and Janelle went to the podiatrist and studied. Nicole was busy celebrating a friends birthday.
On Sunday Janelle showed us her lean, mean muscle machine body from all her training and gym work in Perth...

She went for a jog and I tried to keep up with her on my bike...

Peter played golf with Wayne while I did some baking and Janelle's washing and ironing. Sarah went off and did some study but it seems it was just too tiring and she had a little sleepy...

She eventually was awake enough to do some more driving lessons. She has now progressed out of the industrial area and is driving around our streets...

She also has a sore neck from having to sleep uncomfortably because of this...

which she had done at work last Thursday. We finished off the weekend with some homemade yummy Leek and Potato soup follwed by a nice relaxing spa.

Weekending

Yay no trip to Perth this weekend! Instead it was a quiet one at home. Peter had some "boy" time with a game of golf and a card night. We did some dog sitting over the weekend. Koota's family are in Queensland and Sonic's Dad is in Canada and Nicole went to Perth. After an initial growl the 2 males got on very well and as usual our girls just stared at them...

After doing some baking today I decided to clean out the kitchen cupboards and throw out some junk last time I did it a large collection of water bottles was found ...

This was in October '08. Today it was stubbie holders (which now have a new home in the garage) and coffee mugs (some heading to Nicole's house).

We just collect too much junk! Sarah also got into the decluttering mood ...

It eventually got tidier.

Weekending

Yesterday we took yet another trip to Perth. This time it was to see the musical

at the Burswood Theatre. We picked Janelle up from Trinity and showed Dad her "flat" and had our lunch there. Our seats were quite high up and this made Sarah feel a bit giddy but she managed to compose herself! The show was great with the singing and dancing. We took a few photos after the show next to some of the signs which encouraged a few other people to do the same...
Sarah was back at work today. We went down to the inlet and watched some Dragon boat racing which looked like a fun thing to do...

After lunch we went and watched my friend from work paddle her boat in a race of homemade boats. They came second and also won the best decorated boat...

Dumb and Dumber : 2 men that can't remember what jocks they wore in the last 2 days so therefore they don't know who's is who's when I have washed them...
