Fresh air please

For the past 2 days we have been living in this horrible smoke...


It stinks, can't do any washing or much outside. It has been around so long that it is also in the house now. They say it is from burning off at Wokalup and with no breeze around I guess we just have to put up with it!

ANZAC Long weekend

It was lovely weather to enjoy the long weekend. Sarah worked on Saturday. First job for Peter after his golf game was a new battery for the commodore which suddenly decided to stop at the Forum at 9pm last Thursday. Sarah wasn't impressed about having to walk home in the cold. After 29 years as a member of the RAC Peter got to call them out.


Then he got our first load of firewood for the season...
I made a lemon cake for the Norwood family who came to visit...
Sarah was still in the mood for cooking and made us tea...
I finished my quilt and it was soon put to use...
We took the dogs to the oval for a run Sunday morning...
Bella is always happy to find a feather...
Sarah drove me into town to look at the ANZAC flowers. She was worried about parking but I assured her there wouldn't be many cars around...

We then went to the Forum to take a few photos of the mess there...
That was the car park and entrance into her pharmacy...
One day it will be 15 new shops.
Sarah worked again on Monday so Peter and I went over to Busselton for the day. We had lunch with his parents then went out to his ex boss's farm to see his Alpacas - so cute...

We then visited Wayne and Sue in their caravan on a mini getaway and enjoyed a drink with them. The dogs got a nice walk along the Busselton foreshore before we headed home.

Sarah's Cooking

Sarah has been a busy chef in the kitchen these past few days delighting us with her culinary skills. Her first dish was Onion and Parmesan Pilaf...

We had this with Green Vegetable Curry with Sweet Potato and Eggplant. They were very delicious together accompanied with a crusty Italian loaf of bread. Sarah also invited her friend Sophie to dinner to eat her fabulous cooking.

Next she made Vegetable and Fetta Tarts...

These took a bit of work (done with a bling ring as well!)...

But were well worth the effort...

Something sweet came next... very mourish Lemon Butter...

Some Wedges for lunch...

And tonight for dessert we tried our first Vanilla Pannacotta...

We have enjoyed tasting the different recipes and Sarah had fun trying some new cooking.

I have spent a bit of time this week "decluttering" from cupboards...

It always feels good to toss some junk!

With the cooler weather the roses are producing some lovely Autumn buds after a not so good flowering in the long hot Summer...

Janelle's car saga continued on during the week with the car not working at all. After many phone calls we finally got it up and running yesterday with a new battery from a mobile RAC man. It seems we left the interior light on when we took it up to her last weekend and nobody noticed because of the tinted windows.

Bye little car and Learners

Today Peter and I took Janelle's car to the tow yard. I shed a tear as I watched him remove the number plates and hand the keys in. We have many happy memories of Janelle learning to drive , the excitement of buying her first car and all the trips we took in this cute little car. Yesterday Peter took the good tyres off it and put them on Nicoles...


On Saturday we finalised the purchase of Janelle's replacement Getz...

Then Peter and I drove it to Perth to exchange cars and bring her old one home. Janelle took her new one for a drive around the Trinity carpark and unfortunately it wasn't love at first drive. It also didn't help matters when we discovered that one of the headlights isn't working properly! Hopefully over time she will get used to it...
We also got a photo of the 2 "Learners" Sarah and Teagan just before Teagan got her "P's" on Thursday...

As it is the tradition of our girls getting their licence Sarah and Teagan went "cruisin" for quite a while on Friday evening. Only Sarah left out of the 5 girls to go!

Three of a kind

We finally got around to getting a photo of the 3 girls and the 3 Getz's. They are all the same model but Sarah only had to pay just over half the price Nicole did a few years ago...

Nicole bought hers in August 2006, Janelle got hers in March 2007 and Sarah has had hers since February this year.

Sadly this is the last time the 3 little cars will be together as we have to part with Janelle's this weekend as it has been written off from the hail storm damage.

Easter Long Weekend

We started off with the traditional hot cross buns for brekky on Good Friday. Then it was a trip out to Gelorup to look at a Getz and took that for a test drive. Janelle then got stuck into some study and did heaps over the whole weekend...

I sewed my binding on my little "Paris" quilt...

Peter and I then went and played golf with Wayne and Sue. It wasn't a very good day for Peter, not only did he lose 5 balls but also the head of his driver went flying off and landed in the water. Rather funny at the time but then the realization of more money to be spent on golf sticks! On the way home we called in to see Nicole and mates as they were having a dress up party. (Peter also needed to scab some golf balls that they find!) Here's how they frocked up...

Peter and Janelle went over to Harvey on Saturday morning to look at another car for sale there. Then Peter took Sarah shopping to get a new "must have" Blackberry phone...

Peter pulled out the "summer" vegie garden and left a few tomatoe plants. Not sure if we will put much in here during winter...

Janelle, Sarah and I went shopping for some clothes and new sandshoes. I then had to go work. The girls still like it when Easter Bunny calls by and they get to hunt for eggs...

Sonic also came in for a visit...And a family shot...In the afternoon we drove down to Busselton for an Easter cuppa with Peter's family at Sue's house. On the way through Busselton we found 6 cows on display as part of the Margaret River Cow Parade. There are 85 cows scattered through the area, all decorated differently. The first one we saw is "Fin De Siecle Cow..."We Didn't Do It"..."Moosic Mania"...Loved this one dressed up as Gene Simmons from KISS complete with the long tongue, brings back memories of 30 years ago when I dressed up with some friends at a school social.(I am Ace Frehley)..."Tru-Blu"..."Jetty Cow"..."Self Portrait"...The patches on this one were groups of photos...It would be fun to find the other 70 odd but could take a while!

On Monday we headed out to golf again with Wayne and Sue. Wayne found Peter's driver head had floated to the edge of the lake so we fished it out to keep. After we had played the guys went into the golf shop and "found" a new driver for Peter so he came home happy...

In the late afternoon Janelle went for a "test run" just a short 21 km's to see if she could do the distance for her leg of the half ironman in a few weeks time. I rode my bike along side her and after golf as well I was pretty stiff and sore. She made the distance easily in just over 1 and a half hours.

The weekend ended with well deserved spa!
