Kalbarri Day 5

Another early morning and we were picked up from our house by Col from Kalbarri Abseiling. He drove us out to the Z Bend. First we had to put on our harnesses and other gear in the carpark before we made the trek to the abseiling spot (once again amazed at where a tree can grow!)... I decided to start with a small 4m abseil to see what it was like, lucky I did as the harness really hurt my hips and we were able to adjust it before I tried the higher ones...Next we all moved to the 25m drop, it was quite a climb each time getting back up to the top to have another go. Someone always had to be at the bottom to be the anchor and brake if the abseiler got into trouble. Sarah went first... Janelle did really well conquering her fear of heights...It was fun pushing off from the rock face...Peter worked out that you can't push of with one leg...The 35m drop was different again as you have to guide yourself with ropes more as you are away from the rock...Sarah contemplating...It was great fun and Col was a fantastic guide and distractor (when we were going over the edge) and we all would love to have done more and higher! In summer they go swimming after abseiling but it was too cold for that but we still walked down and sat by the river...Then it was the long climb with weary legs back to the mini bus and back into town. We had our much needed afternoon rest before returning to Red Bluff for some more fishing. While they were catching fish I went for a wander over the rocks...
It was another beautiful evening for fishing and they caught enough to add to last nights catch for our tea tonight...Peter did manage to do a bit of fishing himself...And the sun sets on another glorious day in Kalbarri...
