We booked another mini tour to got out to the Jurong Bird Park. This was quite a long drive but enjoyed seeing more of Singapore. We went for a tram ride around the park with an audio commentary...
We watched the bird show which was very entertaining and interesting how well the birds are trained. These 2 have a race to put all the balls back into the tree stump...
We finally got to see an elusive Cassowary (native to Queensland but we couldn't get a photo of one there!)...
The gardens were lovely and well established as the park is one of Singapore older attractions (we went there on our honeymoon in 1986) - beautiful orchards...
We had some Indian people on the bus with us and they got dropped off first and of course they were staying in the area in Singapore known as "Little India". It was interesting to see the area with so many curry restaurants and shops also the streets decorated in "Bollywood" style...
Back to our motel for a rest then Dad J stayed home while we went shopping on Orchard Road. This is Singapore's famous shopping strip. It wasn't really for us as it was extremely busy and expensive but we enjoyed having a look anyway...
For dinner we went to another restaurant near our motel and shared a meal of 11 different tasting plates - not sure it was enjoyed by everyone but I liked it. The tables also have hot plates on them and some of the meals are served to you in cookware and you keep them bubbling away on the hotplate...
Peter and I were starting to run out of ideas to keep our travel companions occupied and happy. We went and did some serious shopping and we came away with a new camera. This is the first photo taken by the shop owner...
Dad J made it fairly clear to us that he was sick of Asian food and wanted something normal so Peter and I hunted down a Subway for them - lucky it wan't too far away and we managed to satisfy him!...
Back to the motel for a rest and an opportunity for us to go for a walk down to the Merlion...

Later that afternoon we caught a taxi back to the Marina Bay Sands. We decided to just sit and people watch, have dinner and watch the light show. First we watched as this big well where people throw coins into suddenly filled with swirling water and washed all the coins into a huge pool of water in the shopping centre below...
While we were sitting outside this group of Indonesian ladies became very besotted by us and took a heap of photos of us...
A nice thunderstorm rolled in and some rain while we had dinner inside but it eventually stopped in time for the light show...
The show was a combination of laser beams and various fountains which lit up a spray of water with pictures telling a story. The picture of a child is not super clear and was taken on my phone but it was spectacular to watch...
Followed by thousands of bubbles released all over the large crowd...
We thought with so many people here it would take ages to catch a taxi back but this is the queue of empty taxis waiting for passengers - everything in Singapore is so well organised!
Peter and I went out later that night and did some shopping in Chinatown again.
