Au revoir Paris Bonjour Nice

Our wonderful time in Paris has come to an end. We got up early and packed everything up and gave our Paris home a tidy up...

Our pickup man arrived and took us to the Gard de Lyon train station. It rained all the way and the inside of the station wasn't very waterproof and leaked badly. We had got there quite early so we sat around on some dry seats and watched the thousands of other tourists...

Out train was a double decker, we were on the top deck. Although our seats had been triple booked there was plenty of room to move elsewhere.
So we spread out and settled in for the 5 hour journey to Nice...

It was a great trip and the view over the countryside and through cities and villages was very interesting. It was also a good time to catch up on some sleep...

Peter decided that our Nice apartment was in walking distance from the Nice train station so we lugged all our stuff in convoy down the the streets of Nice in the stinking hot sun. It was further than he thought and I wasn't impressed! We eventually made it and were let in by a very strict lady named Josette (who made it very clear if we broke the electric toilet we would have to pay 700 Euros to replace it- lucky there were 3 others to use!) The apartment was lovely right on the beach front. After we had settled in and cooled down it was time to explore Nice and have some dinner...

I tried "real" French Onion soup which was very nice...

We just kept wandering and enjoying the hot evening and atmosphere...
