Farewell Nicole and France, Hello Italy

Sadly for Nicole (and us) the time had come for her to go home after nearly 6 weeks of travelling through England and Europe. We got up early to finish packing and tidying up which is just as well as Josette arrived at 8.45 to inspect everything. The first thing she checked was the electric toilet which we had dared not use! I took a few more shots of our view and a few inside...

Janelle went for a walk to the market and got us some fruit to take. Our lift arrived and he took us to the airport which wasn't very far away. We worked out Nicoles checkin counter and sat with her for a while. Then we all had to say our goodbyes and leave her sitting in the airport until her flight to Dubai at 4pm. We had arranged to catch a bus from the airport to Genoa in Italy. There were only 8 passengers on the bus. I didn't enjoy the trip that much with all the tunnels we went through and so many trucks on the road and very high bridges!

The trip only took 3 hours. We got dropped off at the train station which wasn't that appealing and I decided we would catch a taxi instead of trying to walk and find our motel which proved to be a good decision! We stayed at the NH Marina which was very nice...

Even though this city was only a stopover for us we still thought we would have a look around and went on a little tour but learnt nothing as it was in Italian. We saw a nice fountain...

And lots of scooters for all the mad drivers...

We then went for a walk which didn't feel too comfortable. There was just something about this place and it was our first impression if Italy. We read later an article that described it as "a seedy port city". We eventually found some streets with lots of people shopping...

These streets still had dark alleyways off them...

Anyway we made our way back to the motel, ordered room service for tea and enjoyed our view and a night in...

Nicole made it safely to Dubai where it was 36 degrees at midnight.
