Genoa to Rome

After a sleep in followed by a nice buffet breakfast Janelle and I went for a walk around the marina. We then caught a taxi back to the Genoa train station and worked out which platform to catch our train to Rome from. There were no esculators in this station only heaps of steps so we had some fun lugging everything up and down steps.

It was a nice ride through the Italian countryside and along the coast. We made about 11 stops to pick up more passengers so the train ended up quite full...

After just over 5 hours we arrived...

There was a man waiting for us and straight away he pushed my handbag against me and put my hand over it and told us to be careful, it made me feel very nervous! He took us to the Crowne Plaza Motel. This was one huge motel, with corridors so long Janelle wanted to go jogging! After we had checked into our room we had to go straight to a "welcome" tour meeting. Here we met our tour director Ernesta and most of the people we would be spending the next 9 days with.

We decided to do the first optional tour which was a bus ride to the Colosseum with dinner in
a restaurant over the road. First glimpses of ruins on the way...

It was a lovely meal staring at the amazing Colosseum with entertainment from some singers...

It was almost dark when we went back so we got to see some of Rome lit up with lights. Very spectacular. Nicole made it safely back to cold Bunbury.
