Pisa

After a beautiful breakfast with so much choice we were back on the water taxi at 7.30am to be taken back to our bus. We only got to spend 7 hours in our Hilton motel! As it was Monday the waterways of Venice were very busy...

We travelled most of the morning with our usual toilet and food stops. Also a time to catch up on some sleep...

We arrived at Pisa then we had to catch a little shuttle train to see the Leaning Tower. It is situated in the Piazza Dei Miracoli which has a huge lawn are. Next to the tower is Pisa's cathedral the Duomo and the Battistero...

It was quite amazing to see it for real! Its one of those buildings you just stare at and wonder. It started being built in 1173 but was stopped when they noticed the lean and after attempting to fix the foundations work started again in 1272. It leans at 3.99 degrees so the top of the tower is 3.9 meters from where it should be if it was perfectly vertical...

Like everyone else we did the posing for photos...

We had some free time to wander around and have some lunch. It was another very hot day. Then it was back on the bus to continue on through the Tuscan countryside to our motel in Montecatini...

After we had unpacked we walked to the shopping area of the town and had a look, then we all had a meal in the motel. They had made us a strange desert which was meant to represent a volcano and had fire coming out the top. The girls then bought some internet time and then it was time for bed.
